Receptory spojené s G-proteiny (GPCRs) jsou velká super-rodina buněčných povrchových proteinů, jejichž funkcí je transdukce informace z extracelulárního prostoru dovnitř buňky stimulací (nebo inhibicí) druhých poslů. Do této rodiny patří receptory pro neurotransmitery (jako jsou receptory pro dopamin, acetylcholin, histamin atd.), receptory pro mozkové a střevní peptidy (např. bradykinin, gallanin a různé neuropeptidy). GPRCs jsou velmi důležitou superrodinou, která zahrnuje zhruba 800 různých zástupců. Léčiva interagující s GPCRs, která jsou v současnosti na trhu, interagují pouze se 100 z 800 možných GPCRs. Přibližně 30% všech farmaceutických výrobků, které jsou dnes na trhu, uplatňují svůj terapeutický efekt interakcí s GPCRs.
